Elfte inlägget/Eleventh post

Ja, nu närmar det sig med stormsteg. Lördag, söndag och måndag kvar, sedan är det avresedag, tisdag. Det betyder att vi har fullt upp att göra. Ikväll har Lee after work och jag är inbjuden. På lördag ska vi träffa några vänner på eftermiddagen och på kvällen är det middag. På söndag kommer moster med familj hit på fika och på måndag är det sjukhusbesök för både mig och Lee. Lee ska ta blodprov och jag ska hämta mina journaler. På måndag ska vi också laga mat att ta med på färjan. Färjan går 18.15 och kommer fram 12.15 följande dag, dvs 18 timmar på båt där frukost kostar 15 pund/person. Så en flaska vin till mamma, pappa och Lee och lite påskmust till mig. Pajer till kvällsmat och ciabatta till frukost. Sedan antagligen paj till lunch båda dagarna. På måndag ska jag också på påsklunch på jobbet för att säga hejdå till alla.


It's getting closer and closer. Saturday, Sunday and Monday left, and then Tuesday - departure day. That means we're busy, very busy. Tonight it's After Work for Lee, and I'm invited. On Saturday we're going to see some friends in the afternoon and in the evening we've got friends coming over for tea. On Sunday, my mums's sister and her family are coming over to say "bye" and on Monday both Lee and I have to go the hospital, Lee to have a blood test done and I to pick my medical papers up. On the Monday we'll also be cooking, making loads of quiches to bring on the ferry. The ferry departs at 6.15 pm and arrives at 12.15 18 hours later. Long time on a boat where the breakfast is £15 each. So, a bottle of wine for um, dad and Lee and some "påskmust" for me. Quiches for tea and lunches and ciabattas for breakfast. On the Monday I'm also going to work to have Easter-lunch and to say bye to everyone there.

Tionde inlägget/Tenth post

Ja, egentligen så händer det inte så mycket på flyttsidan förutom att tiden går! Nu är det bara en vecka kvar sen är vi snart på väg. Före helgen hade jag och Lee ett till packa-pass. Vi skulle fortsatt idag men kände för att gå ut på stan istället. Vi försökte hitta något att köpa för våra presentkort men såklart så hittade vi inget. Inget som vi kan tänkas behöva i alla fall. Såhär såg det ut när vi packat klart!


Well, not much to tell you. Nothing is happening really, except for days going by! Now it's only a week left before we leave. Before the weekend Lee and I was packing the trailer again. We were supposed to continue today but felt like going to town instead, which we did. We tried to find something to buy with a our gift cards but failed miserably. We never found anything that we could use, any way.. This is what it looked like after packing last time.

Nionde inlägget/Ninth post

Om två veckor är vi i England, avverkandes de sista milen i bilarna, på väg till Lees föräldrar! Det börjar kännas lite mer verkligt nu. Igår satt jag och Lee och gick igenom alla de hus vi sparat på rightmove.co.uk. Om man räknar alla som någonsin funnits på listan blir det nog över 100 men igår när vi började fanns där ca 40. De har fallit bort efterhand som de blivit sålda eller vi ångrat oss. Jag och Lee tittade i alla fall igenom alla hus och tog bort de som låg för långt bort, var för dyra eller helt enkelt inte passade oss. En del hade för små trädgårdar, en del behövde för stora renoveringar för att det skulle gå ihop med budgeten och en del hade väldigt konstiga planlösningar. Så nu är det alltså 13 hus kvar. Glada nyheter också, huset som vi bokat visning av har fortfarande inte sålts. Bara 16 dagar kvar till visningen av det! Här är en lista av alla de husen som vi sparat.


In two weeks we're in England, driving the last few miles to Lees parents house! It's getting more real every day now. Yesterday, Lee and I went through all the properties we saved on right move.co.uk. If you were to count all the properties that was ever on that list it would be more than a hundred but yesterday when we started there was about 40 left. The others have been removed all along, as they have been sold or taken off the market for some other reason. So, Lee and I were looking through all the houses and removed the ones that were too far away, too expensive or just didn't suit our needs. Some had too small gardens, some needed way too much renovation for our budget to cover and some just had really weird floor plans. So now there's only 13 left. And some good news, the house that we booked a viewing of is still up for sale. Only 16 days left and then we can go and see it! Here's a list of all the saved properties.

Idag har vi packat ur mer eller mindre hela släpet och sedan flyttat runt lådor och möbler och packat om för att allt ska få plats, samtidigt som vi tänkt på hur vi fördelar vikten i släpet. Det innebär att källaren här nästan är tom men att garaget är desto mer fyllt med smågrejor. Speciellt Lees tavlor står överallt!


Today we have more or less emptied the trailer and then moved all furniture and boxes around and then re-packed to fit everything in properly, at the same time as we were thinking of dividing the weight evenly in the trailer. This means that the basement is almost empty but the garage is not. It is full of all the little things that can't be put into boxes. Like Lees paintings, theres like a thousand of them!

Åttonde inlägget/ Eighth post

Nu bor vi hos mamma och pappa. Äntligen har allt packats, mer eller mindre i alla fall. Några enstaka saker ligger i påsar bland alla kartonger men det största och viktigaste är packat. Igår spenderade vi ca fem timmar med att fylla släpet som vi fått låna av pappas vän. Först in var sängarna och soffan, efter det alla lådor. Just nu ser det lite kaos-aktigt ut i det och vi måste stuva om allt det lösa eftersom vi har ytterligare lådor nere i källaren här hos mamma och pappa. Så det blir nog bra. Mitt skrivbord som pappa har gjort ska också in. Spännande! Så, nu börjar väl nedräkningen till Englandsflytten. 16 dagar tills vi kör härifrån, 17 dagar, sedan är vi i England!

Igår hade vi en liten avskedsfest för några av våra vänner, tyvärr var det inte många som dök upp men vi hade kul ändå. Dansade lindy hop i sovrummet med hög musik på och trevligt sällskap!

At mum and dads now. Finally. Everything is packed, more or less anyway. Just a few bits and bobs lying around in bags among with all the boxes. All the big and important stuff is packed though. Yesterday we spent about 5 hours filling the trailer we borrow from a friend of my dad. Bed and sofa was put in first, and then all the boxes. It does look a bit chaotic and we have re-fit everything because we got all the boxes in the basement that have to go in there as well. So i'm confident it'll be fine. And let's not forget the desk my dad made me. That has to come too! It is all so exciting! I suppose this is where the coundtdown starts. 16 days til we leave Lund and 17 days til we arrive in England!

Yesterday we also had a little goody bye party for our friends, unfortunately not manny showed up but we had fun anyway. Dancing lindy hop in the bedroom and some really nice company!

Sjunde inlägger/Seventh post

En hel del har hänt sedan sist. I alla fall på packningsfronten. Lees skor har sorterats och packats ner, fotoalbum, pärmar med viktiga papper, skolpärmar och mina sista skolböcker har packats ner i påsar. Vill inte göra om samma misstag igen och packa en massa tunga grejer i en stor kartong! Så nu är det packat i sådana flergångsplastpåsar (som vi brukar sortera tvätten i). Igår sorterade jag bland alla mina smycken och allt mitt smink. Det blev en del till papperskorgen också! Idag har jag packat krukor och vaser, sorterat bort två vaser och några krukor. Känns dumt att asa med onödiga krukor, som vi knappt använt här i Sverige. Tavlorna är på g, några är inslagna, några ligger på sängen i väntan på att Lee ska bestämma hur de ska packas in. Vi har en del kvar i källaren (TILL SALU!) som måste packas in. Bad Lee köpa mer bubbelplast på vägen hem från jobbet idag. Får se om han dyker upp med någon. Jag bad honom också köpa tjocka sopsäckar att packa våra kläder i. Funderar på att pack ner stövlar och kängor nu.


Quite a bit has happened since the last time I wrote on here. At least on the packing end. Lees shoes have been sorted (threw a few pairs away) and packed. Photo-albums, files with important papers, my school files and my last school books have been put into re-useable plastic bags (some from ASDA and Tesco). I'm not making the same mistake again and pack all heavy stuff in one big box! Yesterday I sorted all my make-up and jewelry. A few bits for the bin this time as well! Today I've packed pots and vases. Decided to bin two vases and a few pots, there's no need to bring pots that we more or less never have used over here in Sweden. The paintings are next in line, a few have been wrapped up, a few are lying on the bad, waiting for Lee to decide how to wrap them. We have quite a few left in the basement (FOR SALE!) that has to be wrapped as well. I asked Lee to get some bubble wrap on his way home from work today. We'll see if he remembered to get some. I also asked him to get some good bin bags to put all our clothes in. Thinking of packing boots and wellies now.

Jag har bakat lite för att göra slut på frukten i frysen och nöt/torkad-frukt-rester i skafferiet. Det sista kommer gå åt i sconesen jag ska baka till mamma och pappa på söndag. Än så länge har jag bakat muffins med kanel i och en klick äppelmos i mitten och scones med valnötter och torkad aprikos. Sconsen blev mycket goda, muffinsen lite torra, tyvärr.


I have done some baking to try and empty the freezer and the nut/dried fruit-savings I've got. The last bits will be put in the scones I'm making for mum and dad on Sunday. So far I've baked muffins with cinnamon and apple-mash/jam (what do you call it in English?) and scones with walnuts and dried apricots. The scones were really nice, the muffins a bit dry, unfortunately.

Idag blir det lite bilder! Har ju inte lagt upp några foton än men nu får ni något att vila ögonen på!

Vårt stökiga hörn, här parkerar vi alla packade och igentejpade lådor (och halvfulla för den delen). De fulla står till höger (förutom en med köksgrejer) och alla andra står till vänster. I mitten står det tomma lådor. Jag lovar, jag har full koll på läget! Kistan är ju fullpackad med tyg mm och ovanpå ligger stryktvätten. Jag vet, det är dags att stryka. Observera att högen till höger är Lees, högen till vänster är min. Alltså mest Lee som borde stryka! Våra vakuumpåsar kom ju i början på veckan. Vi har hunnit packa in täcken, kuddar, prydnadskuddar (utan fodral) och överkastet. Tre mycket vackra och platta packet. Häftigt!


Our messy corner, this is where we store all full boxes (and half full as well). The full ones are standing to the right, the others to the left. And in between are all the empty ones. I promise, I got it ll under control and I know perfectly where everything that I packed is! The chest is full of all the fabric etc and on top of it is all the ironing. I know, it's time to do it. Please observe that the pile to the right is Lees pile and the one to the left is mine. Hence, Lee needs to do HIS ironing! Our vacuum bags came earlier this week. So we've packed wilts, pillows, cushions and our big throw. Three very beautiful and flat packages. Cool!

Mina skor, ja, vad ska man säga? Om jag räknade rätt ligger där 39 par framme. Har ytterligare par, som stövlar och kängor. Inte så många, eller hur? Har ändå sorterat bort åtta par idag. Tycker jag var duktigt! Fast alla mina väskor får följa med...


My shoes, yeah, what to say? If I did my maths properly, there's 39 pairs of shoes on there. Have another few boots and wellies. Not so many, no? Still threw eight pairs away today. Good girl! (me). All my bags can come though...

Fifth post

The day before yesterday we decided to pack Lees Playstation and with it, lots of cables from behind the telly. So now, we only got a telly for looks, we can't watch any programs or movies. We'll have to make do with the computers, I doubt that will be a massive problem though. We also packed our cosy lights from the bedroom. I also took all the curtains down and washed the ones from the kitchen and the living room. Don't dare wash the bedroom ones. So they are folded neatly and lying on the sofa waiting to be packed in the appropriate box. Apparently, there's someone else at Lees job who wants the boxes he's been taking home. We haven't bought any moving boxes at all - saving lots! We'll see how many more we can get but I don't think we'll need that many more. The vacuum bags also arrived, so we have been vacuum packing the single quilts, the extra pillows and all the cushions! It looks so cool, what is left in the bag once the air is gone.


Monday and Tuesdays problems were as follows: We put an ad on the internet and a few people have called asking about the furniture (especially the hallway one). I agreed with his girl that she could come on Monday, at 6-ish. She never showed up. So I ended up just sitting here, not doing much. Yesterday, the second girl was supposed to come at six. Did she show up? NO! She hasn't even got back in touch with me, despite me ringing and emailing her. The one from Monday did text me saying her daughter got sick. Still, you should let the person you're going to know that you're not coming.

Femte inlägget

Igår packade vi ner Lees Playstation och med det en massa sladdar från bakom TVn, så nu blir det inget mer TV-tittande. Får hålla oss till datorerna. Vi packade även ner vår fina lampa i sovrummet, så nu blir det inget mer mysljus där inte. Jag tog också ner alla gardiner och tvättade de som hängt i köket och vardagsrummet. De ligger nu ihopvikta på soffan i väntan på att vi hittar rätt låda att packa ner dem i! Tydligen är det fler som vill ta lådorna på Lees jobb (Lee har tagit hem lådor därifrån så vi har inte köpt några flyttlådor) så nu får vi se hur många fler vi kan få. Behöver nog inte så väldigt många fler. Vakuumpåsarna kom igår! Så jag hämtade dem hos mamma och pappa idag. Äntligen! Fick plats med två singeltäcken och tre kuddar i en. Hade säkert fått plats med en kudde till men vi har fem påsar kvar så vi behöver ju inte trycka in allt i en påse. 


Dagens dilemma är följande: Vi la upp en annons på blocket, en del har hört av sig! Men de två tjejerna som skulle komma kl 18 igår och idag, har inte dykt upp. Inte heller hörde de av sig och sa att de inte skulle komma. Det innebär att jag har suttit hemma och väntat på någon två kvällar i rad, utan anledning visar det sig nu. Fick inte promenerat igår och hade ju kunnat gå ännu längre idag och gjort en massa annat, än bara suttit hemma och glott.

Fjärde inlägget/Fourth post

Liten uppdatering för kvällen. Vi har packat alla handdukar och lakan förutom de som vi använder just nu. Har även packat de flesta glasen och kopparna, tekannan och lite andra smågrejor. Kaffekokare, hemhjälp, elvisp och stavmixer är också nerpackade. Det börjar bli väldigt tomt i skåpen nu. Det som är kvar är väl hål i väggen.. säger Lee. Jag tänkte mer på kläder och täcken, överkast och kuddar i alla former.


Just a little update before bed time. We've packed all the towels and bed linen except for the ones that we're using at the moment. We have also packed most of the cups and glasses, the tea pot and some other kitchen stuff. The coffee machine, the big blender with all its accessories, the little hand blender and the electric whisk are also put away in their boxes. All the cupboards are looking dead empty now. What's left is "all the holes in the walls" Lee says, I was thinking more of the clothes, quilts and our large collection of cushions and pillows.

Tredje inlägget/Third post

Idag har vi packat ner alla ljus och sånt och pappa har hämtat vitrinskåpet som ska stå i "snicken". Det ska fyllas med spik, skruv, lim mm och förhoppningsvis inte bli lika dammigt som det är nu. Så nu ser det med ens mycket tommare ut i vardagsrummet. Fast vi är inte sena med att fylla på med en massa kartonger att packa i. Vi har slängt in tre soppåsar i bilen, som ska till tippen imorgon, vi har köpt bubbelplast (som man inte får leka med...) så Lee kan slå in sina målningar och så vi kan packa vår kära "fin-lampa" i sovrummet. Sist, men inte minst, har vi lagt upp en annons på blocket Annons. Redan efter bara tre timmar har två personer hört av sig, intresserade av samma möbel. Jag skulle satt ett högre pris. Fast vi blir hellre av med det och får småpengar, än att inte få det sålt alls. Pengarna som vi får in för det som vi säljer sorteras till "möbel-kuvertet", så vi kan köpa ett fint matsalsbord i England och en ny TV-bänk kanske. Fast vi kan ju inte planera för mycket, vi vet ju inte vad för hus vi ska bo i sedan.


Today we packed all our candles, candlesticks and all that and my dad picked up the cabinet, which from now on will serve as a "keep the dust of my tools and nails"-cabinet in my dads wood workshop. So now our living room feels a lot more empty. We're not late with filling the space up again though, with empty boxes soon to be filled. We threw three bin bags in the car, taking them to the tip tomorrow, we bought bubble wrap so Lee can wrap his precious paintings up and so that we can wrap up our nice lamp in the bedroom with as well. Last, but not least, we put an ad on the internet for some of our furniture, Ad. Already after three hours there's two people who want the hallway-furniture. I should have put a higher price on it. I prefer it being sold for pennies though, than not sold at all. The money we collect from selling our stuff will be put towards furniture for our new house, maybe a nice dining table and TV-stand. We can't plan too much though, considering we don't know what our house is going to be like.
